Support school uniform drive for children in need

With the winter upon us, the Zicabangeleni Project, a Villa Liza-based, non-profit organisation, has initiated a drive to provide school jerseys and shoes to needy learners.

Donations will benefit the needy children of Villa Liza Primary School.

The drive will take place on June 25, at Emaglazini, in Vosloorus, and will run from noon till late.

A number of local DJs have been roped in to entertain the crowds expected at the charity event.

The line-up includes DJ Mugabe and Zero, from Kasie FM’s breakfast show, who will be performing for free as their contribution to the initiative.

The Boksburg community is urged to come in their numbers to support the good cause.

In order to gain entry to the venue, supporters are requested to bring a Villa Liza Primary School jersey, or a pair of school shoes, or to pay R30 at the gate.

All proceeds from the concert will go towards buying jerseys and shoes.

Those who cannot make it to the event for whatever reasons, but want to donate something, may drop off their donations at the organisation’s offices, at 59 Old Heidelberg Road, Somalia Section, Boksburg.

The target for the initiative is to collect hundreds of jerseys and pairs of shoes to be distributed among the underprivileged little ones.

“We have found that a vast majority of the pupils in Villa Liza Primary School are without proper school shoes and jerseys to keep the cold at bay during the winter season,” said Zicabangeleni Project’s Fulani Mlotshwa.

“You noble gesture will be helpful for the needy children of the school, who battle the winter in worn-out shoes and shabby old jerseys.

“We are happy to have volunteers who have joined us in large numbers, to protect the needy against the chilly winter, and we are really looking forward to collecting more shoes and jerseys for these children,”
