Protesters demand investigation into allocation of RDP houses

The Villa Liza RDP protesters have submitted a memorandum to the Dawn Park Police Station raising their grievances to the SAPS.

This follows the recent violence in Villa Liza over the apparent dubious allocation of RDP houses, which resulted in countless of such homes being vandalised and destroyed.

The memorandum stated that the community is demanding a comprehensive investigation into the housing debacle, which according to them, includes the illegal allocation of the RDP houses and the alleged sale of the RDP’s in Villa Liza extensions two and three.

Residents also demand a case of fraud to be opened against those involved in the corruption and that the Dawn Park SAPS must stop arresting people in Villa Liza and stop further housing allocation until investigations into the allocation of RDP houses is concluded.

Community members also insisted that charges against the arrested community members must be dropped and the immediate removal of Red Ants in the community.

Lieutenant Colonel Semakaleng Tindeka from the Dawn Park SAPS signed and accepted the memorandum and said she will look into the grievances.

The community of Villa Liza who signed the memorandum requested a reply within 40 days.
