Dawn Park detective sends cop killers to jail

Detective Const Tshidiso Selele is these days making sure criminals operating around Dawn Park are feeling the heat.

One of Dawn Park SAPS’ successful detectives, Selele remains on a mission to make sure law and order triumphs.

Selele has been in the police force for the last seven years and has since added a number of successful arrests to his name, with eventual convictions even leading in some cases to life imprisonment.

This includes the hefty sentencing of two suspects for murdering a police officer and a 23-year-old woman.

The case made news back in 2014 when a murder docket was opened on April 19, after a body of a constable, who was a court orderly at the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court, was found dumped at Rooikraal dumpsite.

That week the body of the 23-year-old, who was allegedly in the company of the constable, was also found.

The case was assigned to Selele who did not rest until justice prevailed.

His investigation resulted in positive leads tracing the suspects to Empangeni in KwaZulu-Natal.

Both accused appeared at the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court and were sentenced, on April 21.

“Working on the case wasn’t easy as I faced numerous challenges. These included struggling to obtain information from the community, who were scared of the perpetrators,” said Selele.

“However, hard work and determination paid off.”

Selele says he doesn’t regard himself as a top detective as yet, as he is only trying to keep the community safe and helping the victims of crime get justice.

Selele’s word of advice to criminals is that crime doesn’t pay and they must work for a living.

“Watch out criminals because I’m coming for you – you won’t escape,” Selele said.
