GOOD NEWS: Boksburg North SAPS notch up numerous successes

Boksburg North SAPS members achieved the following successes recently:

Stolen motorcycle recovered

On April 25, at about 9am, W/O Rudie Bezuidenhout and Sgt Nick Muller received information regarding a possible stolen motorcycle.

“They followed up on the information and found the motorcycle in a veld on the corner of Bartlett Road and Dormehl Street, Anderbolt,” said Boksburg North SAPS communication officer, Lieut Juanita Coetzer.

They did an inquiry and found it had been stolen from Floris Street, Beyers Park.

They notified the owner.

Good sentence handed down

W/O Rudie Bezuidenhout made a routine second-hand goods inspection at the dealers, on April 19.

During the visit at a scrap metal dealer in Fifteenth Avenue, Anderbolt, he found 34kg of copper cable which was identified as the property of Telkom.

“The owner produced a receipt, which was false,” said Coetzer.

“A docket was opened and during the investigation, they found a lot of false receipts made out.”

One suspect was arrested and appeared in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court.

The suspect was found guilty and sentenced to 25 years’ imprisonment.

Business burglar arrested

The complainant received a call from the East Rand Mall Security, regarding a burglary at their cellphone shop, on April 26, around 5.46am.

“The complainant rushed to the shop and found the ceiling broken and collapsed,” said Coetzer.

“Video footage showed the suspect entering through the ceiling, taking one cellphone and leaving through the ceiling again.”

“Further investigation showed that the suspect left through the doors of the mall.”

The investigation led to the arrest of the suspect, on April 30, at about 9pm.

He will appear in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court on charges of business burglary and theft.

Possession of burglary equipment

On May 5, around 8am, the Boksburg North SAPS sector vehicle was patrolling in North Rand Road, Westwood when they noticed a suspicious-looking man with a bag.

They stopped and searched him.

“They found equipment on him of which he could not explain the possession thereof,” said Coetzer.

He was arrested and detained at Boksburg North SAPS.
