Chamber to help you become a fully qualified waiter

The Greater Boksburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry will present a 10-module waiter training course from Monday, April 18.

The venue will be at the functions hall on the corner of Gelofte and Second streets, Boksburg North, with classes running from 9am to 3pm.

According to Derek Fox, president of the local chamber, this course will entail rigorous training.

“Those who qualify after the training will be put on a wait list and offered to restaurants and hotels in Ekurhuleni for possible employment. There will also be an opportunity to get hourly paid part-time function work,” said Fox.

“We have tackled this course as tourism is one of the biggest employers in the world and can make a huge difference to the job market.

“Following hot on the heels of the waiter course will be the housekeeping course.”

Fox said there will be a charge for the courses.

“However, no one will be excluded because they cannot pay; a payment plan will be worked out.

“It was considered to offer the course at no cost, but decided that if learners invest in themselves, they will pay more attention and take it seriously.”

Costs are R150 per module.
