Ekurhuleni to host photography exhibition in celebration of Human Rights Day

In heeding President Jacob Zuma’s call, this year the whole country will celebrate national Human Rights Day on March 21, to portray unity and dispel the acts of racism.

The Ekurhuleni Metro will commemorate this day appreciating the works of art through the exhibition of various art and photography works at the Springs Art Gallery (corner Fifth Street and Sixth Avenue) from noon to 5pm.

The exhibition will feature over 100 original art works, including photographs, through which artists express their emotions, views and comprehension of various situation.

“As individuals we view and interpret situations in different ways and, as such, it is equally important to get the views of those who are artistically talented and learn from them.

“We call upon all residents of Ekurhuleni to come and celebrate the holiday meaningfully with us,” said Ekurhuleni spokesperson Themba Gadebe.

The programme of the day’s activities will include a Bill of Rights workshop and a craft design and hand made market.

For exhibition details, enquiries and expressions of interest, artists may contact Thabo Sekoaila on 011 999 8726/7, or email to thabo.sekoaila@ekurhuleni.gov.za.
