Virtual reality, sometimes referred to as immersive multimedia, is a computer-simulated environment that can simulate physical presence in places in the real world or imagined worlds.
It can, therefore, recreate sensory experiences, which include virtual taste, sight, smell, sound and touch.
Technology and 3D virtual reality is already impacting the world in the way we inform and do business.
The brains behind My Panoramic, that offers this technology, Sean and Riaan Ackerman along with Cornelius Botha, approached the school eight months ago with the proposal to create a EG Jansen virtual reality marketing application.
“The 3D reality simply means being able to see and experience different locations, businesses, properties and products from anywhere in the world like never before,” said Sean.
“This new innovative experience and technology is available at a cost that’s affordable to anyone with a smart phone.”
He said the school welcomed the idea with open arms.
There are many reasons for approaching Dr EG Jansen.
“Not only is the school situated close to our office, but most of our family and friends’ children are current or former Jansen pupils, thus it was the most logical school to choose,” said Sean.
“Due to the school’s numbers, the marketing value of our product also played a big role in our choice. Jansen wants to remain at the forefront of technology and development.”
According to Sean, virtual reality can mean a lot to the school’s marketing. There’s also space for advertising at a cost, inside the virtual dome.
The application can be downloaded on any android or Apple cellphone and can be viewed through the 3D virtual reality headset or as just a normal flat view, if you don’t have the headset.
“However, without the headset you will not get the same effect,” said Sean.
