Two die, six critical after car crashes into liquor place

Two people died and six others were transported to hospital in critical condition after a car crashed into a tavern on March 5.

The incident occurred in Joe Slovo informal settlement in Reiger Park at around 10pm.

Ekurhuleni Emergency Services spokesperson William Ntladi said that on arrival at the scene, it was found that one vehicle had crashed into a building.

“It is alleged that a sedan vehicle with two occupants crashed into a tavern and injured seven people,” said Ntladi.

Two men were declared dead on scene by paramedics.

Six others, including a passenger of the same vehicle, sustained critical injuries.

The driver escaped with minor injuries.

All the injured were transported to Tambo Hospital for further medical care.

Ntladi said the scene was handed over to the police for further investigation.
