Rotary clubs Clubs entertain visitors from New Mexico, West Texas

A group of Rotary Friendship Exchange guests from New Mexico and West Texas were hosted for a week by Rotary Club Vereeniging.

During this time the Rotary Club of Boksburg Lake entertained visitors on a typical South African day visit to the Vaal River and Parys.

Rotary Club Vanderbijlpark and Stonehaven on Vaal took a cruise on the luxury cruiser Spirit of Jen available as an early morning treat for the visitors.

A total of 39 guests participated in the cruise, some of whom had been on Friendship Exchange visits to other countries.

After the cruise a cavalcade of cars were led to Parys by two Rotarian motor cyclists – Boksburg Lake President Nominee Mark Jenkins and Vanderbijlpark President Petro Bester.

Guests enjoyed a plate of typical boerekos, consisting of oxtail, chicken pie, pumpkin pie, mashed green beans and coffee with mini koeksisters.

Each of the guests were given a donkey dop in a small mug, which they could take with them as a souvenir.

Back in Vanderbijlpark, the team visited the Sylviavale Museum of vintage cars before they returned to their hosts.
