Jet Park businesses join the fight against crime

Businesspersons operating in the Jet Park area met to formulate new plans to outsmart criminals who target their businesses.

The meeting took place on Wednesday, February 10.

Their monthly meeting was held at the premises of Vital Distribution Services and was also attended by representatives of the Boksburg North SAPS and security companies operating in the area.

Concerns raised by attendees included business burglaries and the daylight robberies said to be regularly taking place in the industrial area.

Further concerns raised by members included loitering, dysfunctional street lights, illegally parked trucks and illegal racing as well as overgrown grass.

All present stressed the need for the police and the local council’s intervention in addressing these problems.

All matters were relayed to the newly appointed Boksburg North’s head of Visible Policing unit (Vispol), Lieut Col Mathebula.

At the meeting, Mathebula pledged his support for the businesspersons’ initiative and promised to work closely with the forum.

During the meeting, business people were warned to be on the lookout for criminals posing as service providers in order to gain access to their properties.

The forum’s next meeting will be held on March 9, at 11am.

The venue will be announced in due course. -@FanieFLK
