Armed robbers leave Groeneweide resident critical

A resident in Groeneweide was transported to hospital in critical condition following an attack at home on the night of January 29.

EMER-G-MED’s RV2 said on its Facebook page that it responded to the incident.

“It is believed that the patient was home alone when a group of suspects gained access and ransacked the patient’s house at gunpoint.

“The suspects loaded the stolen goods into the victim’s double cab bakkie,” read the Facebook post.

EMER-G-MED said though the exact details are unclear it is believed the victim was driven over with the bakkie by the suspects when they were leaving the scene.

“On arrival paramedics found the patient to be in a critical condition, with a femur fracture and multiple other injuries.

“The patient was transported to a nearby hospital by Netcare911 with EMER-G-MED’s RV2 Advanced life support paramedic on-board.”

We will update as we receive more information from the SAPS.
