Police appeal for information in North Rand Road shooting

Police are appealing for information that may lead to the arrest of suspects who fired several shots at two victims last night (January 26) in North Rand Road.

Gauteng Provincial Police spokesperson Lieut-Col Lungelo Dlamini said one of the victims, Ziyaad Ali Mohammed (30), died at the scene and the other victim aged 28, was airlifted to the local hospital.

Dlamini said the suspects are alleged to have been driving in a black Subaru with unknown registration numbers.

Information may be forwarded to Crime Stop at 08600 10111 at all hours.

Information that may lead to the arrest and conviction of the suspects will be rewarded.

Dlamini said it is alleged that the victims were driving a silver Audi when they were confronted by a group of about four suspects driving in a Subaru.

He said the suspects then drove away and they are still at large.

“Police are also still trying to establish the motive for the attack as nothing was taken from the victims,” said Dlamini.
