Man in critical condition following accident
One man was critically injured and four others sustained moderate injuries in a collision between a bakkie and a car on the bridge at the R21 off-ramp at Griffiths Road, early this morning.
When ER24 paramedics and Fire and Rescue Services arrived on scene they found that the driver of the car, a Golf, was trapped in the vehicle.
“The man, who is believed to be in his 30s, was extricated and upon assessment it was found that he was in a critical condition,” said ER24 spokesperson Chitra Bodasing.
She said other patients who were found sitting at the side of the road and standing around the scene were assessed and found to have sustained minor to moderate injuries.
“All the patients were treated and transported to hospital for further medical care,” she added.
According to Bodasing, the exact cause of the collision is unknown.
Authorities were on scene for further investigations.
