Cummins honours Reiger Park Secondary School’s top matrics

Cummins honoured Reiger Park Secondary School's top matric achievers of 2015 on Friday, January 15.

To officially recognise the school’s top Grade 12 learners, dubbed “Genius boys”, management of the company’s Gauteng branch rewarded the three highest achievers in the matric class of 2015, during a special event held at the school.

The top achievers, Arnold Arries, Ernest Mollele and Zunaid Beukes received vouchers, goodies and certificates of appreciation and support.

Among those present were educators, parents and hundreds of students from the school.

One representative of the company, Abey Moleko, told the Advertiser that his company has recently gone into partnership with the school.

“The partnership is aimed at promoting education and improving the lives of children from previously disadvantaged areas, as well as giving back to the communities where the company’s staff members live and where the company operates its businesses,” he said.

The company’s community outreach to the needy in the province includes distributing school shoes to learners.

On September 4, last year, Cummins visited Reiger Park Secondary School and donated 15 trees as part of the annual National Arbor Week celebrations.

“As a company, we have taken it upon ourselves to support communities, improve the health and beauty of the environment and to encourage others, the youth in particular, to participate in protecting our environment by participating in community greening events,” Moleko explained.
