Pencil .22 calibre firearm found in suspect’s shoe

The following cases were reported at the Boksburg North SAPS over the festive season:

* Possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition

A pencil .22 calibre firearm, with eight .22 calibre bullets, was found in a 41-year-old male suspect’s shoe, on December 4.

Detective Warrant Officer Juan Botha received information from a source which led him and a team to Bird Street, Lillianton at around 9.30am, where a wanted suspect was found armed in the house.

Coetzer said that the premises and house were entered with caution, where they found the suspect in the living room.

“When asked if he had a firearm, he denied it. He was searched and in his shoe they found the firearm.”

He was arrested for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

With further investigation it was found that he was a wanted suspect for murder in Waterberg District, Bela Bela Magistrate Court.

* Possession of stolen property

Four suspects were arrested for the possession of stolen property.

Det-Const Tshepo Matshaba received information about a suspect with stolen property on December 29, around 5.40pm.

According to the Boksburg North SAPS communication officer, Lieut Juanita Coetzer, the information led the detective to the arrest of the first suspect in Boksburg North.

The investigation led to Daveyton, where another three suspects were arrested.

The detective found stolen property in their possession, which had been reported stolen from a house in Paul Kruger Street, Boksburg North.

The four suspects were detained at Boksburg North SAPS and the case will be investigated.
