GOOD NEWS: Rape suspects arrested

Two men were recently arrested for raping a woman.

On December 6, at about 8pm, the complainant was walking along Rietfontein Road towards the intersection of Rondebult Road.

“At the intersection two men approached her,” said Coetzer.

“They grabbed her by her clothes and dragged her into a dark corner. They demanded her cellphone and cash, but she did not have any with her.

“The taller of the two men raped her and they both ran away after a while.”

The complainant went to a garage close by to phone an ambulance and the employees phoned the Boksburg North SAPS sector vehicle for the complainant.

Following further investigations, the SAPS managed to trace the suspects and they were arrested.

The following cases were also reported at the Bokburg North SAPS:

* Theft from motor vehicle

A suspect was caught stealing a Boksburg North detective’s wheels off his vehicle, in the parking area on the corner of Second Street and Trichardts Road,, at around 8am on December 4.

According to the Boksburg North communications officer, Lieut Juanita Coetzer, the car guard phoned the detective and informed him that they had caught the suspect.

The detective went to his vehicle where the guard pointed out the suspect with the wheels in his possession.

The suspect was arrested for theft from a motor vehicle.

* Possession of unlicensed firearms

A suspect was arrested for the possession of three unlicensed firearms, at a premises in Oscar Road, Hughes, on December 1, at around 12.40pm.

Information was received by the Boksburg North SAPS regarding an illegal firearm.

Arriving at the premises, officers started searching the particular office and found a safe, which the suspect opened.

“In the safe they found three unlicensed firearms, with a lot of ammunition,” said Coetzer.

“They asked the suspect for his licenses to possess the firearms, which he could not provide.”

They arrested the suspect and he was detained at Boksburg North SAPS.

* Impersonating a police officer

Two suspects were arrested for impersonating a police officer and detained at the Boksburg North SAPS, on November 30, at about 9am.

A police member was patrolling the N12 highway, in a westerly direction, when he noticed a white Ford Ranger travelling inside the yellow line on the road.

The vehicle had two occupants and was travelling with blue lights flashing.

“The SAPS member tried to stop the vehicle several times, but the driver refused to pull over,” said Coetzer.

“At the off-ramp to the R21, the SAPS managed to block the road and forced the vehicle to a stop.

“The driver of the bakkie showed a police appointment certificate to the officers. Further inquiries revealed that the driver was a police member, but not active.

“The SAPS member searched the vehicle and found two firearms lying on the floor.”

The two occupants were arrested and the items were confiscated and handed in as evidence.
