Water gushes down the streets of Boksburg South in a time of restrictions

A worrying Boksburg South Extension 3 resident has informed the Advertiser about water gushing down Thomas Pringle Street due to another burst pipe.

According to the resident, this is precious water which is once again, going to waste.

The pipe burst is on the corner of Thomas Pringle and George Grey streets and has apparently been reported to the metro since yesterday (November 17) morning.

When the resident drove by the corner this morning, the problem has still not been resolved.

“The water is flowing down the road like a fountain,” she said.

“This shouldn’t be happening with the water restrictions already on our doorstep.”

The matter was escalated to the Ekurhuleni Metro for urgent attention.

* In the meantime, it seems the leak at ERPM has been fixed.

According to Matthew Baxter, for the most part the leak is 99.99 per cent fixed.

“Only a little sprinkle of water seems to be coming from one of the welds. What is, however, noticeable, is that the special clamp that was needed to fix the leaking pipe and that that took so long to find and that was placed on the pipe, is no longer on the pipe.

“Seem like welding a few scraps of metal to the pipe will also fix the problem. Very pleased that the leak for the most part is fixed. Well done to the team that final solved this issue.”
