Please be water wise as high temperatures intensifies

Persistent high temperatures have been putting a strain on the water supply system of Rand Water.

The lack of rainfall has also further worsened the situation.

To prevent an ever deepening crisis from escalating, Rand Water has made a call to action, urging the public to use water sparingly and to spread the Water Wise message at home, school and work.

One can do so by spreading the Water Wise message at home, at school and at work and by also reporting water leaks in your neighbourhood to your local municipality.

Rand Water urges water to be used wisely at home.

This includes:

Water also need to be used wisely outdoors.
This includes:
  • Water your garden before 6m or after 6pm and only for a short period
  • Sweep paving with a broom instead of washing it with water.
  • Apply mulch to your garden as it can reduce water use by up to 70 per cent.
  • Water your garden with a watering can rather than a hosepipe. A hosepipe uses about a thousand litres of water an hour.
