This incident occurred on October 30.
According to Boksburg North SAPS communication officer Lieut Juanita Coetzer, the complainant heard a loud bang at around 3.30am, while he was busy in the kitchen at his home in Beyers Park.
He went out onto the balcony to see what was wrong and noticed two unknown men breaking into his bakkie.
“He [the complainant] shouted for one of the suspects, who was approaching him to stop, but the suspect kept coming,” said Coetzer.
“The complainant then fired at the suspect, wounding him.”
The other suspect, who was unhurt, ran away.
The Boksburg North SAPS were called and a case of attempted theft of motor vehicle was opened.
The suspect was transported to Tambo Memorial Hospital.
