LDV hijacked in Boksburg North recovered; two nabbed

An LDV driver was accosted by two men on Sunday, October 18, in Boksburg North.

They took his vehicle by force, at gunpoint.

Fortunately, hawk-eyed EMPD Swat Unit members sighted the vehicle in Vosloorus. They apprehended two suspects and the vehicle was recovered.

EMPD spokesperson Wilfred Kgasago said the arrests and the recovery took place on Saturday, October 24, at around 11.30am.

“The hijacked white GWM LDV was noticed by the officers in the Pick n Pay parking lot in Vosloorus,” said Kgasago.

“As they approached the vehicle, one occupant abandoned the car and bolted on foot.”

He was pursued and apprehended at the nearby taxi rank.

“The other occupant could not evade arrest, as he could not alight the vehicle when officers closed in,” Kgasago explained.

The duo, who are 25 and 27 years old, were taken to the Vosloorus Police Station and charged with possession of a stolen vehicle.

They are expected to appear in the Vosloorus Magistrates Court soon.
