Join CPF/SAPS’ mass anti-crime awareness campaign

The Brakpan SAPS Cluster and the Brakpan CPF Cluster will, on November 7, hold a massive crime awareness campaign.

Residents and local organisations are invited to be part of the campaign, which will take the form of a road show, starting at Carnival City, at 7.30am.

The Bikers Against Crime will be part of the event, which is aimed at eradicating crime within the different communities falling within the cluster.

The mayor of Ekurhuleni Mondli Gungubele, community leaders and senior police officials are also expected to participate in the action.

The motorcade will depart from Carnival City at 8am and travel through different areas within the cluster, before it reaches its final destination, Annemarie’s Pub & Grill, at the corner of Turf and Cason roads, Anderbolt.

“The purpose of the event is to make people aware of crimes that take place in their communities and to encourage them to join hands with the police and their local community forums in the fight against crime – such as carjacking, house robbery, rape, drug abuse, police killings, drug dealing and others,” said Brakpan CPF Cluster chairman Herman Heunis.

Pamphlets with safety tips to prevent crime will be also distributed during the event.

Organisers said they are expecting hundreds of bikers to take part in the campaign.

Herman said he believes the campaign will assist in reducing high levels of crime in the different areas of the Brakpan cluster.

“We want people to be aware of what is happening in their communities and to work together with the police,” he added.

”I hope that, in this manner, crime will be reduced; police cannot win the fight against crime alone.”
