Boeing 737 crash lands at OR Tambo

THE Airports Company South Africa (ACSA) has confirmed that at about noon today (October 26) “an incident” occurred at OR Tambo International Airport involving a British Airways aircraft (BA6234) operated by Comair.

Kempton Express quoted media liaison manager at ACSA Nangamso Jacobs saying that the incident resulted in the temporary closure of the runway.

ACSA did not go into any details about what happened.

However, reports indicate problems occurred with the undercarriage.

All 94 passengers and six crew members have been safely removed from the aircraft and no injuries have been reported.

The airport is now utilising the second runway and this has caused some delays in and out of OR Tambo International Airport, Jacobs said.

“Passengers are encouraged to contact their respective airline for an update on their flights.”
