Testing times for matriculants as final examinations loom

It's time for matriculants to face the ultimate test of what is supposed to be their final year of high school.

Everything seems ready as the 2015 matriculants are set to kick off their final examinations with an English paper at 9am on October 26.

The examinations will end on November 27.

The National Education Department has registered a total of 801 688 learners for the Grade 12 exams.

Of these, 150678 hail from Gauteng, where 112 050 candidates are registered full time and 38 628 part-time.

The Gauteng Department assured the public it has established structures and procedures to deal with the integrity of the examinations.

In Gauteng, there is a total of 954 registered centres to administer the 2015 national senior certificate examinations.

Each centre is headed by a trained chief invigilator who is in charge of administering the examinations.

The centres include 640 public schools, 238 independent schools, 61 adult education training centres, 13 repeat centres and two correctional service centres.

The department has also madearrangements with local municipalities to ensure there will be no load shedding during examinations.

The results will be announced on January 5, next year.
