Binnelanders actress inspires women to love and treasure themselves
The East Rand Business Women commemorated Breast Cancer Month during October, with a twist.
Fatima Abdool, star of Binnelanders and a radio personality, was the guest artist at the last monthly meeting for this year, which was held at the Birchwood Hotel.
She performed a one-woman show called My naam is Miena. The theme of the 30-minute production was ”Be genuine” and Abdool inspired the women to love and treasure themselves.l
Diane Smuts, Business Women member and cancer survivor, also shared her story of being diagnosed with cancer and her journey to recovery.
She acknowledged her perceptions before she started chemotherapy, and how they changed once she had started the treatment.
* The East Rand Business Women will be celebrating the conclusion of another year of networking and fellowship at the Birchwood Hotel, on November 14.
The gala brunch starts at 8.30am, with welcome fruit cocktails, tea and coffee and lots of exhibits to browse while you catch up with friends new and old.
Formal proceedings will start from 9am, with a warm welcome and a cold plated breakfast of fruit, yogurt, pastries, cold meat and cheeses.
Joseph Clark – international star of the ‘Queen’ concerts – will entertain with music from Queen and also lovely, laid back ballads from Frank Sinatra and the like.
In view of the Queen connection, the theme for this year is ”Bohemian Rhapsody”, allowing for free rein in the outfit department. Dress up to the nines – there are prizes for best dressed.
After the first half of Joseph’s show, a full, hot English breakfast will be served.
There will be loads of lucky draw prizes.
The morning concludes around noon, with another session of Joseph’s wonderful entertainment.
