Five nabbed following house robbery in Boksburg North

Five men, believed to have been involved in a house robbery in Boksburg North, were arrested at around 4pm on October 14, in Vosloorus.

One unlicensed 9mm pistol, with its serial number filed off and loaded with 11 live rounds was confiscated by the EMPD Community Liaison Unit members.

EMPD spokesperson Wilfred Kgasago said a look-out was issued for a blue Audi A4 sedan, with an unknown number of occupants, which was seen racing away, following a house robbery in Boksburg.

Metro police sighted the vehicle in Vosloorus Extension 31.

“When signaled to stop, all three occupants abandoned the vehicle and took off on foot, and one of them dropped a 9mm pistol in the process,” said Kgasago.

All three were apprehended following a short chase on foot.

The blue Audi A4 in which they were travelling was found to be displaying false number plates.

Kgasago said the trio ”sang like canaries” and led the EMPD to two other suspects, who they claimed were their accomplices in a house robbery that took place earlier the same day, in Boksburg North.

They also led the police to their rented house in Dawn Park, where 150 9mm live rounds and a 9mm magazine were discovered hidden in a sofa, stored under a carport.

The five arrested suspects, whose ages range between 30 and 40, were charged at the Vosloorus Police Station, with possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, and driving a motor vehicle with false number plates.

“In-depth investigations are underway to get to the bottom of how the accomplices obtained the massive amount of ammunition found at their rented house,” said Kgasago

They suspects are expected to appear in the Vosloorus Magistrates Court, soon.
