Arbor Week: Cummins donates trees to Reiger Park Secondary

As part of the annual National Arbor Week celebrations, Cummins donated 15 trees to Reiger Park Secondary School on Friday, September 4.

Employees from Cummins’ Gauteng based branches arrived at the school with a kombi full of trees and along with the help of the learners and school staff, planted the trees around the playground.

According to Madelyn Pretorius, Gauteng area manager for Cummins, an international company that distributes diesel engines, the donation is their way of giving back to the community.

The event also served as a platform to raise awareness at the school about the importance and value of trees in society.

South Africa celebrates Arbor Week from September 1 tot 7. During this time, the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (DAAF) encourages citizens to participate in community greening events to improve the health and beauty of the local environment.
