Gruesome details emerge in Comet couple’s murder

An elderly couple was found dead in their house, in Comet, by a family member at around 11.50am yesterday (September 9).

The family member went to see how the couple was and, upon arrival at their house, had to break open the door.

He called ER 24 medics who declared the two deceased on scene.

Police were contacted and a case of murder was opened.

According to the Boksburg North SAPS communications officer, Lieut Juanita Coetzer, the couple were stabbed and succumbed to their injuries.

Their motor vehicle – a silver Honda Jazz – was taken.

Officers immediately started their investigation and all possible leads were followed up.

“During late evening, the stolen motor vehicle was involved in an accident in the Joe Slovo Informal Settlement, in Reiger Park,” said Coetzer.

“The driver started running away from the accident scene, but the community stopped him.

“They called the SAPS and Const Kenneth Buthelezi and his crew attended to the complaint.”

Buthelezi made a vehicle inquiry and it came out positive as the stolen vehicle.

The suspect was arrested and detained.

A case of possession of a stolen motor vehicle was opened against the suspect.
