Police foil potential burglary

The Boksburg police may have saved someone’s valuable goods when they arrested one of three suspects for possession of housebreaking equipment.

The spokesperson for the Boksburg SAPS, Kwendzakwakhe Ngobese, said officers, while patrollings near Tambo Memorial Hospital just after midnight, on Saturday, August 29, noticed three men walking along the street.

One of them was carrying a black plastic bag.

“Inside the plastic bag, officers found a torch, knives, a screwdriver, adjustable spanner, car key, pairs of gloves and pliers, as well as a small magnet, apparently used to disable alarms,” said Ngobese.

“The man found carrying the items was arrested and charged with possession of housebreaking equipment.

“Investigations led police to believe that the man had been involved in house robberies and theft of and from motor vehicles in the area.”

According to Ngobese, the suspect’s possible involvement in these offences is being investigated.

The other men were also taken to the police station for profiling, but were later released because they could not be linked to any crime.

Burglaries, house robberies and theft of and from motor vehicles have been increasing in Boksburg recently, with houses in the suburbs, including Sunward Park, Freeway Park and Parkrand being affected. -@FanieFLK
