Thieves strike at two Boksburg North schools

Two local schools were apparently the target of thieves over the weekend.

The Advertiser understand Laerskool Goundrand and Laerskool Westwood were burgled.

It is alleged several computers were stolen at both schools.

A member of the School Governing Body (SGB) at Laerskool Goudrand confirmed the incident at his school.

The SGB member, who wished to remain anonymous, could not divulge more details due to the matter being a subject of police investigation.

He, however, told the Advertiser that computers and undisclosed amount of cash were stolen from the school.

“Surprisingly the alarm didn’t go off,” he said.

The school only found out on Saturday at around 11am. The burglary might have happened on Friday night or the early hours of Saturday morning.

Laerskool Westwood did confirm the incident but could not comment as the police were still at the school gathering information on Monday morning.

Boksburg North SAPS Lieut Juanita Coetzer confirmed the the break-in at Laerskool Goundrand but had no knowledge of the burglary at Westwood at the time of going to press.
