Witfield pastor’s ‘satanic ritual’ case withdrawn

The case of a Witfield pastor along with the grandparents and uncle of a 9-year-old boy whom they allegedly raped and molested in an apparent satanic ritual, was withdrawn from court on August 12.

Spokesperson for the Primrose SAPS Sgt Styles Maome said the case was withdrawn from the Germiston Magistrate Court roll at the request of the victim’s parents.

“They felt that the cross examination process would take a toll on their child and they didn’t want him to go through the ordeal,” said Maome.

The four were charged following allegations that a satanic ritual that involved the molestation of the child happened inside a church, located in Witfield, in 2013.

The SAPS’s Occult-Related Crime Unit investigated the matter and Gauteng police spokesperson Col Katlego Mogalethen confirmed the arrest of the four at the time.

In March, police confiscated the cellphones and laptops of the Witfield pastor and similar equipment was also confiscated from the boy’s grandparents and uncle.

It appeared the police were looking for pornographic material on the phones and laptops.

The four were each granted R4 000 bail in the Germiston Magistrates Court, on March 3.
