Alleged thief caught on the scene

An alleged thief from Soweto, who broke into a house in Boksburg South, had some bad luck when he was caught on the scene.

This is according to the Bosburg police.

A spokesperson for the Boksburg SAPS, Lieut Kwendzakwakhe Ngobese, said the suspect was caught on Tuesday morning, July 21, shortly after he had entered the house on Stanbury Road, and stolen jewellery worth R30 000.

“He was quickly caught following a swift response by WO Siza Dlamin and Const Msiza, who cornered the man after he was found hiding on the premises,” said Ngobese.

The man apparently saw the police approaching police and hid in the garage.

“The police searched the whole house looking for the intruder.

“When they were about to call off the search, they spotted something in the garage wrapped in a blanket.

”Upon flipping over the blanket they found the suspect wearing a jacket he had allegedly stolen from the house,” explained Ngobese.

The police said their job was made even easier, because the man was caught in possession of the loot.

He was, at the time, wearing gloves, apparently to avoid leaving any traces of DNA and fingerprints.

It is still unclear if he committed the crime alone, or had accomplices, who managed to flee.

He is expected to appear in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court on charges of burglary and theft.

The man entered the house through the bedroom window.

In another incident, a woman was robbed of her handbag while waiting for traffic lights at the intersection of Rondebult and Pretoria roads, on Tuesday evening, July 21.

Meanwhile, a Parkdene man was left stranded after thugs stole his Nissan 14 000 on July 21.

The complainant told police that he left his car at 316 Trichardts Road, at about 3pm, but when he came back at about 5.30pm, it was gone. -@FanieFLK
