Watch out: Your newspaper to boast a new look

It is said that change is as good as a holiday, so be ready for a healthy change when the Advertiser hits the streets on Tuesday, July 28.

The Advertiser, distributed freely to 44 000 households, has undergone numerous design changes since the beginning of 2015, in order to ensure we provide the best service to our loyal readers.

And now, readers will be be introduced to a paper with a different front and back page design, as the revamped masthead has, after many years changed, with a more modern touch.

The change in masthead reflects our commitment to provide a newspaper in both hard copy and digital format with which readers are proud to be associated and to read.

Since the late 1990s, the Advertiser has sported the same masthead, but times change, and this is especially true in the media.

We have, after all, as a publication been pushing hard to provide the best coverage of local news daily on the digital platform, be it on our website (at first www.looklocal.co.za and now the title site www.boksburgadvertiser.co.za), or on the social platforms via Facebook and Twitter.

The new-look and improved masthead speaks of our continuing commitment and dedication to continue providing the best service to our community, especially in this digital age, just as we have done over the last 100 years.

It may surprise some that the Advertiser originated back in 1895, when the Boksburg Herald first appeared.

As a quick history lesson, the Boksburg Advertiser, as our readers know it today, was on the streets in 1982 in a smaller format, after moving from broadsheet to tabloid in size.

The Advertiser was originally part of Amalgamated Press, run by the family firm founded by William Hills, until it moved into the stable of Caxton Limited, during the early 1980s.

Today, the Advertiser remains a pillar and an integral part of the Boksburg community, having been present every step of the way, as the city has been impacted by continuous economic, political and social changes and fluctuations.

We have, therefore, been around since the early days, when Boksburg was but a dusty town, and we will continue to be around for many years, as we remain proudly Boksburg and a proud publication.

In celebration of the change in masthead, the Advertiser will next week run a feature on Proudly Boksburg.

After all, we feel this is a city of which to be proud and we remain proudly part of this city’s history and heritage.

As you our readers are greeted with the new masthead, know that the Advertiser will continue to strive and to work hard to be the best source of news in this city.
