Information needed on newborn found in drain

Boksburg North police are appealing for information, after the decomposed body of a baby boy was found in a drain, in Field Road, Lillianton.

According to Boksburg North SAPS communications officer, Lieut Juanita Coetzer, it was established that the corpse was no older than seven days.

The baby could not have been in the drain for more than six days.

A pedestrian walked by an open manhole and caught a whiff of a horrendous smell on June 2.

“Out of curiosity he looked down into the drain and saw something that looked like a baby,” said Coetzer.

“A medic was called and declared the child dead. It was then determined to be a baby boy.”

The investigating officer, WO Manie du Preez, may be contacted on 011 306 0000 to pass on any information relating to this incident, referring to Boksburg North Cas 33-06-2015. – @IschkeBoksburg
