Abuse hurled at police officers, offender in hot water

A man was arrested and charged with crimen injuria after allegedly screaming obscenities at officers in the Boksburg police station.

According to Boksburg SAPS spokesperson Lieut Kwendzakwakhe Ngobese, the incident happened over the weekend.

It is understood that the arrested man and his family members attacked another man first whom they suspected of recently breaking into the family’s house and stealing valuable goods.

The severely injured man went to the Boksburg police station to report his ordeal.

As the assault victim was still explaining to police what happened, one of his attackers arrived and was arrested for suspected assault.

A relative of the suspect arrested for assault, was not impressed and demanded that the police detain the injured man for allegedly breaking into their house.

“Officers could not find anything that linked the man to the said burglary and that’s when the relative became clearly annoyed and started yelling obscenities at the police, calling them dogs and other offensive names,” said Ngobese.

Acting Brakpan cluster commander Brig Johannes Manyathela was among the officers who were attacked verbally.

Manyathela reportedly tried to calm the screaming man down, but to no avail.

Both suspects are expected to appear in court soon. – @FanieFLK
