Local beauties gun for Miss South Africa Township title

Township Pageants South Africa is looking for the Mr and Miss SA Township 2015 title holder.

Three local beauties, Zinzile Sibanyoni (19), Julia Williams (19) and Denine Schaanick (18) will be hoping to claim that title, after having been selected among the finalists for this pageant.

The finalists were tested on their leadership, entrepreneurial and community development skills.

Each finalist is expected to make a mark within the community, by bringing about change through charity work and motivating improvement.

Williams, from Windmill Park, believes she has all the attributes of a young lady to carry the crown.

“I am helpful, friendly, a people’s person, very sensitive towards children and environmentally conscious,” she said.

“I feel honoured and blessed to be part of the finalists; this pageant is giving me so much experience, while it has also boosted my self-confidence.

“In my community alone, there are vast opportunities for the people to come together to make a difference that is beneficial for all of us.

“I wouldlike to build a park or two for the children, and also to work interchangeably with the neighbouring communities, especially focusing on environmental and social issues.”

“My long-term goal is to reach children all over the world.”

She sees herself entering more beauty pageants, like Miss South Africa, Miss Earth and Miss World.

Sibanyoni, from Dawn Park, started modelling at the age of five.

“I am the perfect candidate for this pageant, because I work well with people and I lend a helping hand where needed,” she said.

“If I win, I will empower young girls and boys in the community to reach their potential.

”Sadly, Dawn Park has a high rate of unemployment and crime.

”I wish to open a modelling academy in Dawn Park.

“Currently I am not studying, because of financial reasons, but I am keeping myself busy with modelling.

I would like to study journalism or media studies.”

Schaanick, also from Dawn Park, said if she wins this pageant, she will run workshops for the community and empower the youth.

“I would run workshops to help young girls and boys with skills training, and also aid children who have been abandoned,” she added.

The Grand Finale takes place in Johannesburg, during June.
