Anti e-toll protest gains momentum in Boksburg

People who are opposed to e-tolls took to the Jet Park bridge, over the N12 highway, to display their grievances on the afternoon of Friday, May 29.

Those who protested against e-tolls are members of the Proudly E-tag Free group.

On the day they erected a huge banner along the bridge, urging motorists to hoot against e-toll.

A number of motorists responded positively, hooting every time they drove past.

Proudly E-tag Free member Ursula van Lelyveld was pleased with the response and said that the campaign is ongoing.

“The protests started last July, and there are teams such as this one scattered all over Gauteng,” she said.

“We encourage people to join the campaign and show the government we will not support e-tolls.”

Van Lelyveld added that they are totally against the new e-toll dispensation for many reasons, including that people will lose their licenses.

She said the campaign will continue until motorists are satisfied with “what’s on the table”.
