According to Dawn Park police spokesperson Capt Charles Tshabalala, the mother wrapped her newly born child in a plastic bag and dumped it in the street.
“She was seen by some of the residents in Windmill Park dumping a plastic bag, and they were surprised to see something moving,” he said.
“When the bag was opened, they found a baby in there, still breathing.”
The residents immediately alerted the police.
“The police searched the entire area and the woman was found and arrested.
“She explained that she had been pregnant with another man’s child and she was scared to tell her husband, hence she took a decision to dump the baby,” Tshabalala said.
He added that the woman may be charged with child negligence, however, she is receiving psychological help.
She is expected to appear in court soon. – @NalediBoksburg
