Fernandez shines as a Mrs SA Top 25 finalist

Jacqui Fernandez (40), a Boksburg resident, has been selected as one of the Top 25 Mrs South Africa finalists for 2015.

Fernandez was born and raised in Boksburg, and has been living here ever since.

She is married to Michael and together they have a son named Kyle. She is also a stepmother to Tammy, whom she adores.

Fernandez entered the Mrs South Africa pageant because she regards the organisation that runs it as dynamic and she would love to partner with it and give back to the community.

As a Top 25 finalist, she would like to thank everyone who voted for her.

“I am looking forward to using this platform to make a difference,” she said.

“I am extremely passionate about educating young children about drugs and teaching them that they not only affect the addict, but those around him or her as well.”

Her family has had firsthand experience with this sort of behavior and she wants to do everything she can to avoid other families going through the same trauma.

“We are fortunate that we have a success story and an inspiring one, as my brother was able to conquer his addiction and has managed to touch and help many people and families,” Fernandez said.

She also aims to start a fund to aid families who are unable to send their children or family members to rehab, as this is a very costly exercise.

The Top 100 finalists started their journey in March, this year, and have been tirelessly assisting The Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa) with the raising of funds and awareness to provide support and health care to those affected by the disease.”

“I have three cancer survivors in my family, so this is close to my heart,” Fernandez said in a previous interview with the Advertiser.

This year’s panel of illustrious judges is made up of Cindy Nell Roberts, former Miss South Africa and principle judge; Dieter Voigt, former Mr South Africa; Marelize Steyn Earle, former Mrs South Africa; Riana Mooi, Mrs Globe 2015 and Kholofelo Chademanah, Mrs South Africa second princess 2014.

The Top 25 contestants will be judged on criteria that the panel believes a Mrs South Africa 2015 winner should exemplify.

The grand finale, where the new Mrs South Africa will be crowned, will take place at Emperors Palace on October 8.

The night promises to deliver a glamorous affair that will celebrate all women from all aspects of life.
