Sexual abuse victim has no sympathy for Hewitt’s fate

One of Bob Hewitt's victims is very disappointed in the six year sentence handed down to him in the North Gauteng High Court, on May 18.

Suellen Sheehan expressed disappointment in the sentence and also in the fact that Hewitt has been allowed to go home pending his leave to appeal application.

“He put us in an emotional prison 33 years ago, so why is he getting preferential treatment?” asked Sheehan.

She said people continue to victimise her regarding her ordeal, yet according to her she is being tormented without any proper reason or substance.

“People say Hewitt is too old to go to jail, yet I was too young to be having sex.

“It begs the question why he could not be incarcerated while he waits for his appeal,” she said.

Sheehan said Hewitt knew very well what he did, but is still regarded by some as the victim.

“I’m ill from all the stress and I will always struggle with fibromyalgia (medical condition characterised by chronic widespread pain and a heightened response to pressure).

“Despite my sufferings, Hewitt will never care.”

Sheehan recently signed a book deal with Random House.
