This is according to metro spokesperson Themba Gadebe, in response to a number of complaints lodged with the metro about the state of the Boksburg North area.
Gadebe said that all residents have a civic responsibility to keep the environment in which we live hygienic at all times. He explained that refuse is removed twice per week, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, irrespective of whether it is a public holiday or not.
He added that daily litter-picking and a street cleaning service are also rendered in the area.
“The rubble that clutters the corners of Trichardts and Cason roads, as well as Trichardts and First streets, is partially caused by the upgrade work that is being done to the storm water drainage system in the area, and partly by refuse being dumped or placed outside for removal prior to the stipulated removal days,” he said.
“All residents and businesses are requested to collate litter and place it on the pick-up spot for the refuse removal officials.” – @NalediBoksburg
