Policeman nabbed for stealing vehicle in Boksburg

A police officer and his accomplice were arrested after being found in possession of a car that was stolen in Boksburg on May 7.

EMPD spokesperson Wilfred Kgasago said a Mazda sedan that was stolen at around 5am, was recovered the same morning at around 7am, by metro police and a vehicle tracking company in Brakpan.

“The recovered vehicle disappeared from a yard in Dawn Park and once the tracker was activated, a joint effort by the EMPD Geluksdal Precinct officers and the tracking company officials resulted in the suspects being located and cornered along Ncane Street in Langaville,” said Khasago.

He said that one of the suspects was identified as a law enforcer allegedly stationed in Tsakane.

The recovered Mazda 323 was booked in at Tsakane police station.

The two were charged for possession of a stolen vehicle at Tsakane police station.

They are expected to appear in the Tsakane Magistrate’s Court soon.
