Gunmen rob foreign-owned bottle stores in broad daylight

Pistol-whipping thugs robbed two Chinese-owned bottle stores, in two separate incidents, recently, in broad daylight, in Boksburg.

During a robbery at about 10.40am on Thursday, April 16, six robbers, four of whom were carrying firearms, walked into a bottle store on Leeuwpoort Street, and held up staff at gunpoint.

They pistol-whipped one of the bottle store employees and demanded money.

They then stole an undisclosed amount of cash and air time vouchers, before running out of the door.

It is unclear if there was a waiting getaway car with a driver parked nearby.

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, April 15, at about 6pm, about four gunmen robbed a bottle store next to a filling station, on Trichardts Road, Parkrand.

They held staff at gunpoint and stole R20 000, airtime vouchers, alcohol as well as a cellphone. The cellphone was, however, later recovered dumped somewhere in Brakpan.

No shots were fired during either of the two incidents.

Two business robbery cases were registered at the Boksburg SAPS.

No arrests have been made so far, but investigations continue.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Boksburg police on 011 841 6859.
