A man robbed the jewellery store of an undisclosed amount of money and jewellery, in the afternoon of April 2.
He entered the shop with a gas pistol, which looks like a real firearm, held up the employees and ran out with a few rings.
According to the Boksburg North SAPS’s communication officer, Lieut Juanita Coetzer, crime intelligence officer Capt Garon Sage and Det WO Gideon O’Neill arrested the man in the Benoni Agricultural Holdings.
“They also confiscated the gas pistol,” said Coetzer.
“They found one set of rings on the suspect’s fiancé’s finger and the others were found at a jeweller in Primrose, where he sold them, together with an older engagement ring, for R1 000.”
The suspect alleged that he needed money.
