Local Miss Junior South Africa finalist believes in SA’s rich potential

Miss Junior South Africa finalist Julia Williams (19), from Boksburg, is ready to share the country's rich heritage with the rest of the world.

“I believe in South Africa, because it is alive with wonderful testimonies of religious beliefs, magnificent diversity, wealthy history, Ubuntuism and beautiful landscapes,” said Williams.

Julia Nathalie Williams was born at the Vosloorus Clinic, in 1995.

She was raised in the dusty streets of the township and moved to Windmill Park in 1997, where she grew up.

She attended Freeway Park Primary School and completed her schooling at Sunward Park High School in 2013.

She is currently in her second year at Boston City Campus and Business College, majoring in Bcom Marketing Management.

Her hobbies are reading, writing short stories and poetry, also organising events and dancing.

It is the first time Williams has entered the Miss Junior South Africa competition, but not the first time she has participated in a beauty pageant. She has previously competed in the Miss Teen Johannesburg and Miss Mamelodi Sundowns pageants.

While she has not been successful in beauty pageants so far, she has not given up on her dream of becoming a South African ambassador.

“I believe the time is right for me to enter Miss Junior South Africa, since I have gained experience and I have the ambition to fulfil my dreams,” she said.

Williams added that God is her most important and biggest drive to become a South African ambassador.

“I am zero without my Hero,” she added.

She sees herself as a perfect candidate to be crowned Miss Junior South Africa, saying: “I can offer South Africa my time, my passion and my voice.”

Her motto in life is ”work smart”.

“Don’t try to do the same thing the same way repeatedly, you will fail. Think smart in order to work smart, so that you do small things in smart ways,” she advised.

Her most important dream is to be a bridge between children and education.

She hopes to one day establish a NPO which educates underprivileged children in such a modern manner that it produces leaders today and for tomorrow.

The finals of the pageant will take place in Pretoria West, from April 28 to May 3.

Vote for Williams by sending ”J51” to 47018. SMSes are charged at R2 each.
