The society presented an exhibition of 13 different breeds of fabulous felines on the day.
The breeds were:
Birmans – the Birman has a pointed coat pattern, very similar to that of the Siamese but distinguishes itself as a breed from other pointed breeds by the characteristic white areas on the paws.
Ragdolls – A cat with a pointed coat pattern and medium length fur. A docile type of cat, with a quiet temperament.
Singapuras – A very small breed of cat with short, sleek fur. Known as the “drain cats of Singapore”, they are pretty cats with, a friendly nature.
Somali – A breathtaking cat with a resemblance to a little fox, with large ears, full ruff and bushy tail. Fur is medium length, fine and soft to the touch. Lively and alert cats, with a friendly nature.
Black Asians – Short-haired cats, elegant and muscular with jet black glossy fur. Active and friendly cats.
Bengals – A short-haired cat of wild origin. The spotted patterning is highly distinctive, in that the large spots are arranged horizontally. A muscular cat with a dusting of gold on the coat.
Burmese – A short-haired, elegant but muscular cat, with a fine, glossy satin-like coat.
Abyssinian – A medium sized cat with a muscular body and a short, lustrous coat. These cats have remained relatively unchanged for thousands of years and closely resemble the paintings and sculptures of ancient Egyptian cats.
Persian – A cat with a compact build and profuse, long-haired coat. Considering it’s size, it is a graceful cat with a sweet, quiet temperament.
Oriental – A Siamese-type cat without the points. Today we have spotted, striped and ticked Oriental tabbies, as well as bi-colours, shaded and silvers, and the ever-popular solid colours.
Siamese – One of the most popular breeds of cat. A long, elegant body and a tapering, wedge-shaped head. Vivid blue eyes, a very talkative and affectionate cat.
Cornish Rex – A cat with a short wavy coat and a slender, masculine body. These cats come in a range of colours and get along with anyone, even dogs.
Maine Coon – Known as the gentle giants, these are medium length-haired cats with dense, rugged coats. They have independent natures and are keen hunters. – @NalediBoksburg
