Owner defends legality of strip club

The owner of G-Strings Gentlemens Club in Boksburg said the club is operating legally.

This is in light of complaints from residents and claims by the Ekurhuleni Metro that the club in Boksburg North has not met all the requirements to operate as a place of amusement.

The owner, Gerald, who wished to be identified by his first name only, showed the Advertiser certifications from the Metro’s Health Department, the Fire Department and the one permitting G-Strings to run as a place of amusement as well as the Liquor License.

According to the owner, the allegations against the club might be due to rival businesses.

Themba Gadebe, metro spokesperson, told the Advertiser that the zoning does allow the sale and consumption of alcohol on the premises of G-Strings.

“The owners, however, do require a liquor licence, which is issued by the Liquor Board and controlled by the SAPS,” he said.

The club owner informed the Advertiser that the entire establishment, out of which two clubs operate, does have a liquor licence.
