Frustration mounts among Sapo clients

Several unsatisfied clients have complained bitterly about poor service at the Boksburg Post Office, in Leeuwpoort Street.

The former East Rand Galleria Post Office clients have apparently been left high and dry after the post boxes previously used by them were removed, forcing them to collect their mail in the Boksburg CBD.

It is understood that the Post Office’s lease in the Galleria had expired.

However, the clients have not yet been allocated boxes (only a client number) at the post office in Leeuwpoort Street, while postal deliveries are also not received on time.

To make matters worse, clients are now forced to queue at the branch for hours before they are helped.

“I recently waited in the queue for a long time and when I got to the counter, to collect my mail, the person who assisted me told me that there was no mail for me,” said one a client, who wished to remain anonymous.

“This is very unusual, because I normally get mail on a regular basis. I suspect that our items are piling up on the floor, unsorted.”

Apart from the poor service received in Leeuwpoort Street, the Advertiser has also learned of residents in others parts of Boksburg who are still experiencing mail delivery delays.

One of the complainants, Charlie Warren, who has gone without mail for months, said he visited the Sunward Park depot last month to inquire as to why he is not receiving his mail.

He managed to enter the premises and peeped through the security door, into the sorting office, in the morning, only to discover that there were no workers on duty.

“It looked like a bomb had gone off inside the sorting office; the floor hadn’t been swept in ages and there were bags upon bags of unsorted mail on the floor.

“This will answer any questions about why you don’t receive any of you mail,” said Warren, adding that this is another way of wasting taxpayers’ money.

The Post Office has been approached for comment, but none had been received at the time of going to press.
