Nigerians busted with ‘Cat’ worth R100 000

Acting on a tip-off, members of the EMPD K9 Unit arrested two Nigerian nationals for dealing in drugs, in Boksburg, on Thursday, February 26.

According to the Boksburg SAPS spokesperson, Kwendzakwakhe Ngobes, EMPD members had been following up on information about drug dealers who were operating in a flat along Brown Street, in Cason.

“Officers arrested the two men, aged 31 and 32, after they were found with the drug Cat, with an estimated street value of R100 000,” said Ngobese.

He added that it has not yet established if the drugs were being manufactured on the premises, but the pair was charged with possession and dealing in drugs.

They will appear in the Boksburg Magistrates Court soon.

He commended the members for the recovery of drugs and the arrests, adding that their commitment to reducing the drug trade will continue to make the city safe for the community.

“A man in a BMW was arrested on the N17, in Boksburg, for driving at 207km/h in a 120km/h zone; the second man was caught driving at 161km/h in a 120km/h zone, on the same road,” said Ngobese.

“They were charged with reckless and negligent driving at the Boksburg Police Station, and were expected to appear in court on the same day.”
