Zimbabwean woman arrested for the illegal selling of medicine

A Zimbabwean woman was arrested for the illegal possession and selling of 50 dosages of 100mg/2ml schedule six Pethidine - a highly addicted medicine only applied in hospital.

She was also found in possession of 47 packets of Rifampicin Isoniazid, one 100mg packet of EMB-Fatol, 839 Micro Cortin tablets, needles, a black toy gun and a doctor’s stamp.

The Boksburg North SAPS station commander, Col Sam Makama, received information from his informer regarding an illegal deal that is going to take place, on Friday, February 20.

According to the Boksburg North SAPS communication officer, Lieut Juanita Coetzer, the information was about a suspect who is in illegal possession of scheduled medicine.

“The suspect was going to sell it to a customer,” said Coetzer.

Makama arranged with two Germiston Flying Squad members to assist him with the arrest.

“They prepared themselves and went to observe, while the informer went to meet with the suspect.

“The deal went down and the members apprehended the suspect, who is a 30-year-old  Zimbabwean woman.”

She was arrested and brought to the Boksburg North SAPS.

“They confiscated Pethidine, which you cannot obtain by a chemist or prescription.”

The value  of the items is still undisclosed. The case will be investigated further.

“Well done to the Boksburg North SAPS station commander in taking the lead and setting an example to the Boksburg North members,” said Coetzer.
