Metro investigates legality of local strip club

It seems that the G-String Strip Club, in Boksburg, is operating illegally.

This is according to metro spokesperson Themba Gadebe.

The club, in Trichards Road, has recently come under the spotlight, following complaints from residents, questioning the legality of its operations.

“The club has been served with a notice that they need to apply for a permit to operate as a place of amusement,” said Gadebe.

“The owners of the property, visited the municipality's building inspectors offices and the necessary procedures on how to apply for a permit for a place of amusement was communicated to them.

“However, the metro’s building inspectors department has not received any formal application from the owners of the club.

“The matter has been escalated to the corporate and legal section, to appoint attorneys to proceed with legal action against the registered owners.”

Gadebe added that, currently, the zoning does allow the sale and consumption of alcohol on the premises.

“However, the owners do require a liquor licence, which is issued by the Liquor Board and controlled by the SAPS,'' he said.

“The club owners are also required to have a health certificate from the Health and Social Development Department, if food is prepared on the premises.”

The Advertiser's several attempts to get comment from the club were fruitless.
